Country Music Nation: Tayla Mourns Devastating Loss

Originally posted on CountryMusicNation.com by Miranda Raye:

Loretta Lynn and her family are no strangers to loss. In 1984, Loretta’s oldest son, Benny, died when he drowned at the age of 34. Years later, Loretta lost her oldest daughter, Betty, when she passed away in 2013 due to emphysema.

In addition to losing two of her six children, Loretta lost her husband of nearly 50 years, Oliver “Doo” Lynn, when he passed away in 1996 at the age of 69.

But while Loretta’s life has been marked by great loss, it has also been defined by great love. She has dozens of grandchildren, with one of the most famous being Tayla Lynn.

The daughter of Loretta’s son Ernest, Tayla has made it her life’s mission to continue her grandmother’s legacy. A singer herself, Tayla performs all over the country, often covering her grandmother’s famous songs.

Recently, Tayla has been performing with Tre Twitty, the grandson of Loretta’s best friend and duet partner Conway Twitty. Together, the two sing their grandparents’ songs and duets, bringing their music to a whole new generation of country fans.

Most recently, Tayla and Tre performed together at Loretta’s ranch in Tennessee on Saturday (July 7). The concert was a big celebration of Loretta and Conway’s music, and was surely entertaining for all who attended. Loretta even called Tayla while she was on stage to say “hello” to everyone who showed up.

But that celebration didn’t last for long.

The day after the concert (July 8), Tayla took to Instagram to share some heartbreaking news. Her mother, Cindy, had passed away that morning.

Tayla didn’t say much. She simply shared a photo of her mother, writing, “Mama. I miss you so much.”

It was actually Tre who revealed a little more about what had happened to Cindy. In a post he wrote on Facebook to show some love to Tayla, he said that Cindy had passed away in her sleep.

“We were all cuttin up out at Loretta’s Saturday night, and she passed away in her sleep a few hours later,” he wrote. “Life can change so soon.”

Our prayers go out to Tayla and her family as they mourn the devastating loss of her mother Cindy.

You can remember Cindy by watching the following video that Tayla shared of her on YouTube just last month. May she rest in peace.

“The granddaughter of famed country singer Loretta Lynn promises: “It’s going to be super fun.”

Tayla Lynn fans attending Friday’s concert at the Marysville Opera House are in for a special treat.

She will be singing a new song from her soon-to-be released album that she calls “probably the most honest song I’ve ever written.”

Entitled “She’s the Blue in My Eyes,” it’s written about the person in her life she calls Memaw, but who the public knows as her grandmother, country music legend Loretta Lynn.

As soon as she finished writing it, she went to her grandmother’s house. “I have to play a song for you,” she told Loretta.

When Lynn got to the song’s tag, “she’s the blue in my eyes,” Lynn said her grandmother held her face in her hands and they both cried.”…READ MORE

Personal Message from Memaw 1024 683 Chase Jennings

Personal Message from Memaw

Y’all, I am so happy to share a personal message from Memaw with you guys!

“Thank you so much for all of your prayers, love, and support. I’m happy to say that I’m at home with my family and getting better by the day! My main focus now is making a full recovery so that I can get back to putting all of me into what I love, sharing my music with all of you.

My new album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, was originally scheduled to come in August this year. I now want to wait to release it next year because this record is so special for me. It deserves me at my best and I can’t wait to share it. I want to thank everyone for hanging in there with me. I am getting stronger every day and can’t wait to get back out there with all of you. I’m just letting everybody know that Willie ain’t dead yet and neither am I, and I can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”

4 years ago yesterday I got sober again. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. After 8 years of sobriety I relapsed for 6 months after taking Vicodin (pain killer) for a c section with this angel. I hold him. I watch the sunrise and silently cry into his hair “I’m so glad I had you Tru. You changed my life just by being you.”

He nestles into my sweater, like he’s done since he was born, and we watch the sunrise. ☀️ That relapse lasted for 6 months and I’m that 6 months I lost everything but when I stepped into my “wise woman” and faced the music 🎶 I got back so much more than I ever had. If you’re struggling with addiction…if you were like me and you are lost and ashamed….it’s ok. You’re ok right now. Tell someone you trust and let’s get you on the road to recovery.

A few hours after writing this post, Yahoo! Beauty published an article on it titled Country Music Star Opens Up About Getting Clean (shoutouts to Amy Capetta!)

Singer and songwriter Tayla Lynn has bravely shared a personal triumph, while bringing awareness to a national epidemic.

The granddaughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn posted on her social media accounts that she is celebrating four years of sobriety — for the second time. “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through,” wrote the wife and mother, pictured with her son, Tru…

Memaw’s Stroke 1000 667 Chase Jennings

Memaw’s Stroke

Sometimes the madness has to slow down long enough to write about it…

It’s been two weeks and three days since Memaws’s stroke. It’s been two weeks and two days since I began having horrible stomach pains. It’s been one week and three days since I was diagnosed with gallstones and three days since they said, “never mind, we aren’t sure where the pain is coming from.”

It’s been one summer, fall winter and spring since I announced that I was gonna kick off a Pledge account and my Grammy nominated Record Producer Aunt Patsy Lynn Russell  said that she would write and produce it for me. So today. May 23rd I write to you and tell you we are doing just that.

In a time when we have tragedies like Manchester and I see that my grandmother is truly 85 and not bullet proof like I want to dream…I want to step into the light. I want to create now more than ever To not give into the fear. To not stop because the universe throws shade. To be the light in that shade.

I want to make a raw and real record ala Loretta meets Lucinda Willams but it’s all me and Pasty in there with our blood sweat and tears…I can’t do it alone. I need you. I love social media for this. We feel like we know each other and from social media some of you have become like family to me.

I first heard of these crowdfunding platforms a few years ago when I was still in Stealing Angels. We were mad as hornets we didn’t do that route. From there I have seen Melissa Etheridge, Emily West, Shelly Fairchild, Natalie Stovall….all make the record they want all by themselves! No record label to pay back! So without further ado, here is my Pledge page! For anyone new to Pledge, it’s similar to KickStarter, but specifically for musicians. Here’s a screencap from their About page that explains everything better than I could:
